James Boice followed Donald Grey Barnhouse as pastor of the historic Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.

Upon Dr. Boice's death in 2000, Dr. Philip Ryken became Senior Minister of Tenth Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Boice received his doctorate from the University of Basel and Dr. Ryken received his doctorate from the University of Oxford.
