Louis Berkhof served as a professor of theology and president of Calvin Theological Seminary.

He had an unusual capacity to assimilate a large body of material, sort out its essential content, and reproduce it in condensed form.

Possessing remarkable personal and intellectual gifts, Professor Berkhof was a voracious reader and biblical scholar.
